Grapefruit is antiseptic, disinfecting, detoxifying, and diuretic. Grapefruit has fat-disolving characteristics and is exceptional for cleansing oily skin.
According to the Essential Oil Desk Reference, Grapefruit is rich in
limonene, which has been extensively studied for its ability to combat
tumor growth in over 50 clinical studies. Grapefruit may help with acne, cellulite, digestion and fluid retention. It is known to help with depression, drug withdrawal, eating disorders, fatigue, jet lag, liver disorders, migraine headaches, pre-menstrual tension, and stress. It may also have a cleansing effect on the kidneys, the lymphatic system, and the vascular system.
Application:
Topical: Dilute 50/50 and apply topically on location as desired. Grapefruit is not considered a photosensitizing oil, unlike other oils with furocoumarins.
Inhalation: Diffuse
Internal: Add to food or water as a dietary supplement or flavoring.
Safety:
Avoid eye contact. In case of accidental contact, put a few drops of any pure vegetable oil in the eye. Water will not adequately dilute the oil. We’ve never known this to cause permanent injury or long-term discomfort, but if you feel concerned, please call your doctor if necessary.
